About the resort

Oura-View Beach Club is situated 2km from Albufeira,on the Algarve Coast. This area is famous for its spectacular golden sandy beaches and beautiful natural scenery. The architecture and culture bears witness to the rich history of the region with the Phoenicians, Romans, and Christians and Moors all having controlled southern Portugal at one time or another. Silves, the old Moorish capital and Tavira, the town of churches are well worth a sightseeing visit, or if you are looking for sophisticated dining, why not visit Vilamoura where quayside restaurants will give you a warm welcome. And for golf enthusiasts, there is an abundance of local courses.

The Algarve coast line stretches about 100 miles from the westernmost tip to the Spanish border. The western end juts out into the Atlantic, a rugged, undeveloped area, which has retained its natural charm - traditional arts and crafts, which have all but disappeared from the eastern coast - form part of the way of life here.

The western coastline is extremely dramatic, with cliffs of black rock from which Algarvian fishermen cling precariously hundreds of feet above the sea, for hours on end. Beaches vary from tiny, intimate coves to long lengths of open soft sand, where the Atlantic waves crash and retreat. Nothing appears to have changed over the centuries, and the entire area is virtually untouched by tourism. A "spaghetti western" or two must surely have been made here!

The high spot to visiting the western coast is Cape St.Vincent, which is the most south westerly point of Europe, the equivalent of Cornwall's Land's End, but without the souvenir shops. You may be able to buy some of the local handicrafts from tiny market stalls along the road. Come and enjoy spectacular views from the cliffs looking straight out across the Atlantic Ocean, with nothing but water between you and America, the very same view that surely inspired Henry the Navigator all those centuries ago!

The interior design is charming, with a clean white and dark blue colour scheme featuring a distinctive flower basket motif that is carried through the tiling and fabrics.
