About the resort

The province of Almeria is one of Spain’s best kept secrets. Largely unknown until relatively recently because of the former lack of water and good roads, Almeria has more than 3,100 hours of sunshine each year which makes it the hottest province in Andalucía.

Vera Beach Club is just a stroll away from the beautiful sandy beach where you can swim and indulge in a range of water sports, and only a few minutes’ drive from the fishing village of Garrucha where you can eat at some of the best fish restaurants to be found in Spain. If you have ever seen a Spaghetti Western, such as Sergio Leone’s ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, you’ll know what the interior of this fascinating province looks like – sandstone hills, dusty riverbeds, deep gorges and cacti – and just a forty minute drive from Vera Beach Club will take you to Mini Hollywood, a small but fascinating theme park where cinema history was actually made.

This area is a golfer’s paradise – there are 18 hole golf courses in the vicinity of Vera Beach Club as well as Desert Springs Indiana, Europe’s first Arizona-style desert golf course with unique features such as springs, watercourses, dry river beds and rock and cactus areas. Nature lovers should visit El Cabo de Gata, a protected reserve with numerous little-known species of flora and fauna – and nature lovers of a slightly different type might be interested to know that near Vera Beach Club can be found one of Spain’s foremost naturist or nudist beaches!
